What is Energy Medicine?

Energy medicine dates back at least to the 19th century although the term was not used until the late 1980s. The first Energy Medicine Conference was held in 1987 in Madras, India. Many of the attendees were American scientists and researchers. However, it was not considered to be supportable in the research that was being conducted in mainstream medicine and biology.

Recognition of “life energy” or “life force” and moving that energy or removing blockages in some way has been as part of most traditional healing therapies for many centuries. Until recently, Western medicine has not recognized or incorporated these therapeutic approaches. A large percentage (estimated almost 50%) of Americans use some type of alternative or complementary therapy today.
