Rollin McCraty, Ph.D, Director of Research at the Institute of HeartMath®, is an Adjunct Professor at Claremont Graduate University. A psychophysiologist, his research interests include the physiology of emotion, including the mechanisms by which emotions influence cognitive processes, behavior, and health. Dr. McCraty has been Principal Investigator in numerous laboratory research studies examining the effects of emotions on heart–brain interactions and on autonomic, cardiovascular, hormonal, and immune system functions.
The Heart Coherence presentation will provide an overview of heart-brain interactions and heart coherence and discuss how these findings provide a new approach to self-regulation of stress and optimizing cognitive functions that are relevant to improving a wide range of health outcomes. These include improved cognitive functioning such as focus and attention, memory and sensory motor integration, reducing blood pressure and facilitating recovery from a wide range of stress related challenges such as fatigue and burnout, anxiety, ADHD, sleeplessness and depression. The presentation will also discuss new research on the physiology of intuition and how the coherent state facilitates access to our intuitive abilities.
